We are excited to announce that The Lakota Group has received two American Planning Association Awards this year!

The Peoria Avenue BRT Land Use Framework was selected for the APA-OK 2018 Outstanding Plan Award:

Lakota helped implement a new Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service for Peoria Avenue, a main north-south corridor adjacent to downtown Tulsa. The current ridership for the local bus along Peoria is the highest in the city. The new branded BRT will feature 36 upgraded stations, nine new buses, real-time arrival screens, and traffic signal priority, as well as better security and improved physical conditions around the stations. As part of this process, the Lakota team created strategies for connecting BRT to a form-based approach to development/redevelopment, planned for the positive physical impacts and inevitable evolving land uses associated with a new transit service, and shaped the discussion about better placemaking within the public realm.

The Elmhurst Park District Vision 2020: Comprehensive and Strategic Plan received the APA-IL Outreach Award. This plan engaged over 3,000 individuals throughout the process, both in person and online. The final plan was presented to the public as an illustrated video, which led viewers through the process and the findings.

A big thanks to our partners at the Elmhurst Park District and the City of Tulsa!
