The Lakota Group has a long and productive relationship with the five communities that make up the Quad Cities at the Illinois-Iowa border. Almost since its founding Lakota has worked continuously on land use planning and design principles for the 26-mile Mississippi River Corridor. The history of the region is one of its key strengths, and Lakota has recently completed a Historic Resources Plan for the City of Rock Island, a proud riverfront community that has long worked to enhance historic preservation.

I had the pleasure of working with Lakota to prepare a city-wide historic preservation plan. The plan embodies Rock Island's passion for preservation and has been met with strong community support. I would strongly recommend the Lakota Group for preservation planning services.Brandy Howe, AICP, Interim Planning & Redevelopment Administrator, City of Rock Island Planning & Redevelopment, Rock Island IL

Working in a collaborative process with the City of Moline and Renew Moline, a private-sector development group, the Lakota Group created a land use plan, framework, and guidelines that helped transform the region’s waterfront in Moline’s Riverfront Neighborhoods Comprehensive Plan Update, a plan that was recognized in 2014 with an award by the Illinois Chapter of the American Planning Association for Best Strategic Plan.
