Hang tight! We appreciate your dedication and commitment to this planning and design process. This future park is a result of joined efforts and collaborations between multiple stakeholders and landowners and while we are moving slower than expected, we are surely getting closer to the finish line! We have posted a current preferred plan based on feedback from stakeholders. Please feel free to reach out to OTNF, OTMRA, or the design team for additional information.
The Old Town Merchants and Residents Association (OTMRA) and The Old Town Neighborhood Foundation have engaged The Lakota Group to develop a design vision for a new community open space along N. Orleans St. north of W. Schiller St. OTMRA plays a vital role in enhancing the health, economic development, and sustainability of the community. In this process, the association aims to create an exciting vision for this long-underutilized space. The design process included conceptual design, design development, and construction documents aimed to understand what your priorities are for this new park space.
As part of this initiative, OTMRA undertook a meaningful, all-inclusive public participation program that engaged community stakeholders and residents. An open and transparent public engagement effort helped build the trust and optimism needed to cultivate local support for the N. Orleans St. park in appropriate ways.
Stay tuned for additional details!
