The Berkley Downtown Development Authority has embarked on the creation of a new Downtown Master Plan, an important policy document that will guide future investment and development activity within the DDA district. The Berkley DDA has engaged The Lakota Group, a Chicago-based planning and urban design firm, and a team of consultants to complete the Master Plan. The process for developing the Downtown Master Plan provides a unique opportunity for community residents and stakeholders to participate in the planning process and communicate their ideas regarding Downtown Berkley’s future. The downtown planning process includes three key phases: Public Visioning & Outreach, Technical Planning, and Adoption & Implementation. We are currently in the Public Visioning & Outreach phase!
The first Open House for the Downtown Berkley Master Plan was held on Tuesday, November 13, with a Field Office at 3116 Twelve Mile Road the following day. We had a great turnout and loved hearing the hopes and concerns of so many Berkley business owners and residents – see photos below! All materials presented at the open house are posted in the documents section below.
If you weren’t able to make it to the Open House or Field Office, an online survey has been prepared to gather additional input. Click here to take the survey! The survey will be live through December 14.
Additionally, a community Pinterest board has been created for residents and business owners to share photos of their ideas for improvements in Downtown Berkley.
