| Lakota prepared a Master Plan for a 2-mile stretch of the Chicago River in Downtown
Northbrook that addresses significant riverbank restoration and access
improvements. The plan first addresses
schematic designs of restoration projects needed to stabilize the deteriorating riverbank.
Based on the restored edge and access points, a
River Walk concept was then prepared with three character zones: Educational/Natural, Urban, and Recreational/Natural. The
Plan includes overlooks, fencing/walls, lighting, landscaping,
paths/paving, and identity features. The Feasibility Study, which was prepared
with Harza Engineers, includes funding, implementation, and permitting strategies.
