Lakota prepared a Master Plan for Kankakee's Downtown and Route 17/Court Street Corridor for the City of Kankakee, Kankakee Development Corporation, and East Side Council. The planning area encompassed 52 blocks within Downtown and 16 blocks along the 1.5-mile Court Street
Corridor starting at Interstate 57.
The Plan defines numerous development and open space opportunities, streetscape improvements, a service business zone, and 16
action teams for implementation. Open spaces included a new Riverwalk and River Park as well as plazas/squares/greens centered on the historic Train Station, City Hall, Stone Barn, County Courthouse, Library, and
churches. |
