Frankfort Downtown Master Plan and Streetscape/Signage Design: |

| Lakota prepared a Master Plan for Frankfort's historic
Downtown. The Plan addresses streetscape design, development parcels, parking, the Old Plank Road regional bike trail, and street reconstruction. Design issues included enhancement of the Village's central green, street lighting, paving, street furniture, signage/gateways, and storefronts. Lakota's work included design concepts for several building facades, which the Village has used to implement rehabilitation of
several storefronts.
Following completion of the Master Plan, Lakota and Baxter & Woodman Engineers prepared the historic district's overall
streetscape design. The Illinois Department of Transportation-approved project
includes steel arch gateways over the regional bike trail, special street signs and kiosks, and distinctive stone gateway identity columns.
Lakota and Baxter & Woodman received the 2000 Merit Award from the Consulting Engineers Council of Illinois for the Frankfort
Streetscape Design.
