INTRODUCTION

The Village of Bensenville, along with the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA), has teamed up to develop a Transit Improvement Plan and Station Area Study. This Study will assess the existing transit system within the Village as well as the potential transit improvements related to Elgin O'Hare Expressway Extension and potential O'Hare western access.

The goal is to prepare and implement a transit-oriented development (TOD) plan for the Towne Center/station area that can be supported by current and future markets. This includes:

  • Preparing an economically viable station area plan that will help attract new transit-oriented development
  • Increase transit ridership through evaluation and improvement of current Metra and Pace service both within the Village and its connectivity to other places, including potential connections to O'Hare
  • Identify needed infrastructure and other improvements to support the objectives above
  • Increase ridership by drawing commuters from outside the station area and the Village by attracting more riders, patrons, businesses, and residents to the Towne Center/station area
