The Planning Process

The process for developing the Strategic Historic Preservation Plan will involve three phases: an assessment of the current historic preservation program, a visioning phase where preliminary strategies and preservation planning recommendations are developed and tested, and a final, plan-making phase in which final planning goals, strategies and implementation steps are determined and adopted by the City of San Antonio. Throughout the plan-making process, a wide range of private sector stakeholders, residents, preservation advocates, and public agency representatives will be engaged through focus groups, interview sessions and public workshops to gain community input, consensus and support regarding the recommendations and strategies presented in the Plan.

Each phase will include the following activities:

Phase I: State of the City

Phase II: Preservation Visioning

Phase III: Strategic Plan
