City of Ferndale

Preserve America Wayfinding & Cultural Tourism Project

The City of Ferndale and the Ferndale Downtown Development Authority (DDA) are conducting a planning and design process to develop a comprehensive downtown wayfinding plan and an attractive, easy-to-navigate signage system. The goals of this plan are to:

  • Identify the City at its borders
  • Enhance and promote the special identity of the downtown through signage
  • Direct people to key locations and destinations
  • Provide historic, cultural, and interpretive information and identification for local buildings and sites
  • Complement the City’s new streetscape program and previous branding efforts
  • Create safer and less congested roadway conditions through properly designed and located directional signs
  • Integrate sustainable and “green” technologies into the signage designs

A consultant team of planners, designers, marketing and communication specialists, and historic/interpretive writers has been hired to assist in this process. Throughout the process, this website will provide updated information and materials for review and comments. Please check back regularly.
